Google MapsにGemini機能を追加
Google MapsにGemini AI機能が追加された。AndroidとiOSの一般ユーザー向けに、音声ナビゲーション、ランドマークベースのナビゲーション、プロアクティブな交通アラート、Lens機能が利用可能になった。
ナビゲーション中にGeminiを使用して、ルート上の場所検索、EV充電器確認、ETA共有が可能。マルチステップタスクにも対応し、Calendarと連携してイベントを自動追加できる。Geminiが利用可能な地域で、今後数週間でAndroidとiOSに順次展開、Android Autoにも対応予定。
2億5000万箇所の情報とStreet View画像を分析し、ルート上のランドマーク（ガソリンスタンド、レストラン、有名な建物など）を使った案内が可能。ランドマークベースのナビゲーションは米国でAndroidとiOSに展開中。
予期しない道路閉鎖や渋滞を事前に通知するプロアクティブな交通アラート機能を追加。米国でAndroidに展開中。
カメラでレストランやランドマークを識別し、音声で質問できるLens機能を追加。米国でAndroidとiOSに段階的に展開予定（今月下旬から）。

Googleは、Gemini APIで「Google Maps」を使用したGrounding（情報の根拠付け）が利用可能になったことを発表。
- 開発者はGemini APIを使用して、Google Mapsの最新の地理空間データに基づいた回答を生成可能
- 近くの場所の検索、距離や方向の理解など、位置情報に基づいたコンテキストを提供
- AIアプリケーションに現実世界の正確な場所情報を統合することが容易に

Hi there. I'm hrdtbs, a frontend expert and technical consultant. I started my career in the creative industry over 13 years ago, learning on the job as a 3DCG modeler and game engineer in the indie scene.
In 2015 I began working as a freelance web designer and engineer. I handled everything from design and development to operation and advertising, delivering comprehensive solutions for various clients.
